Cyanotype Jam Session: Botanical Book


A focused introduction to the historic art of cyanotype

Using sunlight and cyanotype chemistry, you'll create your own collection of botanical sun prints - just like Anna Atkins, who made the first book of photographs in the 1840s.

What's Included:

Please note that this introductory session focuses on using pre-coated papers, so you will not be coating your own.

What to Bring:

  • Clothes that can get a little messy (gloves provided)
  • Your own collection of leaves, flowers, and materials from your garden!

Q: Can my 7-year-old attend?

A: This workshop is designed for ages 10+. The compositional and exposure process requires fine motor skills and focus, best suited for children 10 and older.

Q: Do children need to be accompanied by an adult?
A: Children must be dropped off and picked up by an adult, but do not need supervision during the workshop. 

Q: What if it's cloudy?
A: We have backup options, including UV exposure lamps and pre-dried botanical materials. The workshop runs regardless of the weather.
