Using sunlight and cyanotype chemistry, students will create their own collection of botanical cyanotype prints - just like Anna Atkins, who made the first book of photographs in the 1840s.



Ages:10 years and above
Duration: 1.5 hours
Group Size: Maximum 8 students


Each young artist will:
  • Learn the magic of sun printing and its fascinating history
  • Explore our gardens to collect leaves, flowers, and natural materials
  • Create test prints
  • Design a final nature study piece to take home
  • Take home a portfolio containing 3-4 experimental prints and one main artwork

What to Bring:
  • Clothes that can get a little messy 
  • Water bottle
  • Sunhat for garden time
  • Optional: Any special natural materials from home (pressed flowers, interesting leaves)

Weather Note: This workshop runs rain or shine! We have indoor backup activities and pre-dried botanical materials available if needed.
